What is a Vision Board and Will It Work For Me?

Updated: May 2, 2022

Have you heard of Vision Boards before? Maybe you are aware of them already, but don't quite understand how they work or whether they could be something you could use to achieve the goals you have set for yourself.

I wrote this blog to explain why a Vision Board is fantastic for manifesting your goals and dreams and helping you to achieve things that have been on your mind for a while, that you never seem to get around to.

Maybe you understand it all and already want a Vision Board, but simply haven’t found the time to make one for yourself yet!

What is a Vision Board?

I discovered Vision Boards properly when COVID 19 hit us in the UK last March.

I lost a big client - who was hit hard by the effects of COVID as they were in the hospitality industry. I knew it wasn't my fault I lost the work, but my confidence was really knocked and I felt a bit lost!

I needed to pick myself up quickly and find new work.

To help me re-build my confidence I went out and bought a book called “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. Buy here: https://jensincero.com/shop/

The book was funny and conversational and it helped me get on my feet again and get moving with my business.

The author suggested that I make a Vision Board to help me identify and achieve my goals. I had heard of them vaguely and thought I might like the idea, as I love visual things to motivate me.

I watched a great YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FipEE992U1g&t=50s which explained everything to me and I was ready to get started!

The first Vision Board I made was using a magnetic noticeboard that I already owned, I cut out some images from the internet and stuck them onto the board with some words and phrases I liked.

I followed the instructions on using it shown in the video. I began to get ideas all the time, they would pop up in the shower, whilst working, on a walk – anywhere and everywhere!!

Within a few months, I had achieved a few of the goals already and I became convinced by the power of focusing on your goals in this way.

But will it work for me?

Let me just save you the suspense – this is not some magical universe stuff – you are not handed these achievements by a benevolent force, BUT INSTEAD, your heart and mind are fully open to the opportunities that we are presented with all the time and what is more, you will find that you start to take steps to seek out the opportunities you need – once we instruct our brilliant brains that “this is what I want, make it happen”.

However, one major issue for me about the Vision Board is that I have no private office space or area in which to put it up on the wall. I decided the only place for it was beside my bed, but I found that a little bit embarrassing, as other family members would see it and read it out loud.

I kept wishing I could think of a better more private solution about where to keep it.

Digital Vision Boards

Soon after that I had the idea to try making a board in a free tool called Canva, so that I could have a Vision Board in a digital format!

I started by playing around with the template called “Story Board” this is a template with images and text spaces, which is perfect for creating a Vision Board.

Using that idea and having practised on myself and a couple of others, I have now created a service where I create these boards for other people.

Can I make my own Vision Board?

Yes! You absolutely can do it at home by yourself.

The essential key to the Vision Board manifesting process is when you look at your board each day, notice any objections that come up – things like “how will I make the money to buy this…” or “I have no time to do that exercise” or “I just don’t know where to start with this”.

You need to journal these objections or note them down and read them.

Giving your brain this problem to solve will bring you closer to achieving the goal and solving the problem.

Bespoke Digital Vision Boards Made For You

I offer my clients a service where I create bespoke Digital Vision Boards. I charge £35 (prices current as of March 2022).

For that, I provide the completed Digital Vision Board, full instructions on how to use the board and 2 additional exercises for you to do at home to help you clear any blocks to achieve your goals.

The boards contain 9 goals that relate to family, travel, money, health, creativity, a spiritual goal, relationships, career and material items.

You can send over your own images or I can find ones that will resonate with you.
